Sneak PEEK of THE SNOW FEAST

This summer I have had the great privilege to work on Book II of The Fairy Lore of Ghost Horse Hollow. THE SNOW FEAST will be out on Amazon and Kindle this fall. The second adventure in the MacKennon homestead saga unfolds in the month of January. One hundred years in the future in the Appalachian Wilderness, the Fairylands are frozen and white, blanketed by the freezing spell of the Winter Fairy Princess, Lady Shivera. Her twin brother, Lord Verdox, is visiting Ghost Horse Hollow, rather by accident, after bumping into Three Toe the Bear and Farmer Jake MacKennon on the far side of Grandfather Mountain. All sorts of troubles brew when Shavira's Ice Goblins desire a Snow Blades match with the MacKennons in the impressive Snow Blades arena under Shavira's palace fortress.

Panther and Dale from Book I : TURN OF THE BLADE are pulled into the competition and are determined to rescue their new friend Salina Little Dove from Shavira's palace. With Snow Snakes, Snow Blades, and enchanted Snowboards, the athletic and dangerous game unfolds, driving members of the farm family apart as not just one, but two daring rescues ensue. It has been so much fun to imagine and create the world of the Moonlight and Starlight Fairy Kingdoms, especially in the entangled web of frosty mists and rivers of ice. I also can't wait for you to meet the winter wolves.

As many of my readers have rightly guessed, the second installment follows the Wheel of the Year.  Book I ended on the winter solstice. Now, the Post-Apocalyptic survivors of Ghost Horse Hollow are caught up in the New Year and the magical time leading up to the Feast of Brigga or Bridgit. The celebration of this Feast is associated with Imbolc, or Ground Hog's Day in modern society. Imbolc was traditionally the day of blessing the seeds to be planted in the coming spring. It was also a recognition of the hearth fire and sacred wells, since the Goddess Brigit was linked to the holy springs, wells, and waterways of ancient Celtic civilizations, as well as to the home fire.
