THE GREENWOOD TALES : A Fresh Take on Robin Hood

Book Trailer Launch for Young Robin & THE BOX OF BONES

This past December was a very exciting month for me as a writer with the launch on Amazon Books and Kindle of my new series THE GREENWOOD TALES. The Medieval adventures unfold in the classic setting of Sherwood Forest as well as Nottingham Castle. Only, Robin and his friends are portrayed as teenagers with all the sport and fun that goes along with viewing life from the perspective of mischievous boys. The first novel is YOUNG ROBIN & The Box of Bones. It reintroduces everyone's favorite characters such as Friar Tuck and the Sheriff of Nottingham, but the story ushers in new players in the classical drama. For example, Geoff of the Shire Wood, is Robin's Druid warrior mentor in the deep forest. His mysterious powers and mighty physical presence inspire each of the teenagers to up their courage and train vigorously.

Sherwood Forest
The sheriff is also surprising, because he is modeled after a real character from historical records, William de Wendeval. He is both cunning and foolish, a blend of the unexpected and the most foul, but ultimately a humorous element in the story. Jack Black would portray de Wendeval to perfection. I hope you will order a copy on Amazon books today or purchase a Kindle version for only $2.99. The first installment of THE GREENWOOD TALES was a delight to write. The entire composition is dedicated to saving the world's great forests, like Sherwood. I hope the series will also inspire young readers to be true to their personal values and to avoid the pitfalls of greed.

An adventure for all ages. Timeless, inspirational.

Robin Hood is, after all, the mythological equivalent of King Arthur. Both English figures are noble leaders who inspire others to be better men, to be generous, kind, and valiant. I used imagery from King Arthur to fill out the corners of the setting for the teenagers and to invoke a sense of magic. Merlin and Robin Hood both seek out the quiet, living trees in the Greenwood for solace and wisdom. It is from the trees, like Grandfather Oak, that Robin draws much of his strength of will and presence of mind. Robin Hood emerges as a very relevant hero for our times. He embodies the compassion of charity and the courage to take constructive action. Enjoy and please SHARE!
THE GREENWOOD TALES are suitable for family entertainment and read-aloud quality time.
